At museum van Bommel van Dam (VBVD), we take your privacy very seriously. That is why we handle your personal data with care. When processing personal data, VBVD follows the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In this privacy statement, we explain what information VBVD collects when you visit our website and what we do with this information.

Personal data
VBVD collects personal data that people provide directly to VBVD. VBVD may also collect personal data provided by third parties.
The overview below explains which personal data VBVD collects when you use our website. It also explains why we collect this data, the legal basis for doing so and how long we keep it.
Website analytics
To analyse how visitors use our website, VBVD collects your IP address, browsing behaviour, device type and internet browser type. We keep this data for a maximum of 6 months.
Digital newsletter
For subscribers to our digital newsletter, VBVD collects your first name, surname, email address and information about which links you click when opening the newsletter. We keep this data for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. If you unsubscribe, we keep this data for a maximum of 1 month after you unsubscribe.
A/B testing
To compare the behaviour of different groups of website visitors, VBVD collects your IP address, browsing behaviour, device type and internet browser type. We keep this data for a maximum of 6 months.
Retargeting / Behavioural targeting
By retargeting, VBVD means showing advertisements to website visitors, contacting people who have taken part in events and contacting subscribers to our digital newsletter with offers. To use retargeting and behavioural targeting, VBVD collects your first name, surname, telephone number, email address, IP address, device type and internet browser type. We keep this data for a maximum of 6 months.
Email communication
When you contact VBVD through the website, we collect your email address, first name and surname so that we can communicate with you by email. We keep this data for as long as it is needed for the email correspondence.
Maintenance of IT systems
We regularly maintain our IT systems to keep our website safe and working properly. To make sure that no information is lost during maintenance, VBVD makes a copy of all personal data collected through the website before the maintenance takes place. This personal data is kept until the maintenance has been completed successfully.
Sharing data with recipients under a data processing agreement
VBVD may share your personal data with data processors and other parties involved in carrying out a data processing agreement between VBVD and another party.
Transfers to countries or organisations without Privacy Shield
To carry out the purposes described above, VBVD may need to transfer your personal data to processors and other parties in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Privacy laws in these countries may be different from those in the Netherlands. VBVD therefore uses the Privacy Shield, or EU Model Clauses, to protect your privacy as much as possible.
By accepting this privacy statement, you give VBVD permission to share information about your browsing behaviour with parties in the USA, including Google. The USA does not have an appropriate Privacy Shield and privacy laws in the USA are different from those in the Netherlands. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time, although this cannot be done retrospectively.

You can ask VBVD to give you access to your personal data.
Right to rectification
You can ask VBVD to correct, complete, restrict or delete your personal data.

You can ask VBVD to delete all your personal data.

You can object if you do not agree with the way VBVD collects or processes your personal data.
Right to data portability
You can ask VBVD to provide your personal data in a format that allows you to easily transfer it to someone else.
Right to restriction of processing
You can ask VBVD to stop or restrict certain types of data processing. This cannot be done retrospectively.
