Buurten in De Bovenkamer
Buurten in De Bovenkamer is a collaboration between Buurten met Talent and museum van Bommel van Dam. In De Bovenkamer, the museum’s attic studio, hundreds of works from the collection provide the starting point for conversations between local residents who want to make a difference for one another and for their neighbourhood.
Creative workshops
The workshop is part of our programme to help local residents turn their dreams and ideas for the neighbourhood into reality. Not through long meetings or complicated plans, but through art, images and meeting one another. What does your neighbourhood mean to you? What role do you play in it? You choose artworks that say something about yourself, your neighbourhood and your dreams.
Images can help put into words things that are sometimes difficult to explain. They make visible what moves you, what gives you energy and what matters to you. By looking at art together, new insights, conversations and connections can emerge. You not only discover more about yourself, but also about the talents, wishes, stories and ideas of others.
We start with an informal welcome with coffee and tea. Then, using works from the collection, you look for images that say something about yourself, your neighbourhood and the possibilities for the future. Together, we discuss the selections and explore which stories and talents from the neighbourhood become visible. We bring the chosen images together in a personal booklet.
You do not need any knowledge of art – curiosity is enough!
